Art Hunt: Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center
Project History: Daybreak Star Arts Center, a Native American cultural/educational center at Discovery Park, is administered by the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation. Funds were allocated for artworks for the Center in 1975 and artists were selected by national competition to create a group of works representative of contemporary Native American art.
Twelve Native American artists were commissioned through the City of Seattle’s 1% for Art program to create artworks for the Center. Most of the large-scale works can be viewed on the second-floor balcony surrounding the main hall.
