Description: Eight sculptures comprise the multi-sculptural environment, Sentinels, designed to invite pedestrians into the space adjoining the sidewalk along Fire Station 10. Fabricated in steel, painted fire- engine red and trimmed in stainless steel, the sculptures range in height from 3’-0” to 9’-6.”

Artist Statement: My artworks explore the archaeology of place with its multi-faceted identity, diverse voices, and alternative perspectives.  The artwork playfully explores shifting perspectives through the placement of eight sculptures, diminishing in scale along the upgrade of the Fire Station 10 sidewalk.  The sculptures are inspired by my explorations of protective gear of different cultures and the beauty of Asian architecture and folk craft, reflecting the cultural diversity of the Chinatown-International District and Pioneer Square neighborhoods. The multi-sculptural environment represents the guardians of the city.  Just as the staff of Fire Station 10 facility in the Chinatown-International District is responsible for the public safety of the city, the surrounding Asian community has been standing watch over the interests of their neighborhood.
