This painting, also referred to as, The Pursuit of Truth in some references, was given to the people of Seattle by Mrs. Thomas D. Stimson in 1962.  It was included as one of the first gifts of art donated by various patrons to the city on the occasion of the opening of the Seattle World’s Fair in that year.
