Motion is inspired by water, and the pipes that transport storm water and Mapes Creek below the 600-foot 52nd Avenue South walkway. The artwork consists of more than 450 multi-colored inlayed concrete and stainless steel circles or “dots”, flowing between two sections of concrete pipes at the north and south end of the path. Color and form are essential elements used to create an illusion of water flow, and imply the movement of water. As a whole, the colored dots represent water flowing beneath the pedestrian corridor; individually, they symbolize the wonderful rain we receive from nature
