Peterson is Coast Salish (Skokomish), a self taught artist, who with his uncle, Peter Peterson has made a joint effort to revive the traditional steam-bent box. He has studied the Salish artworks made by his great grandfather Henry Allen. The Heron represents the regal and beautiful things in life.
