Labor Series (Cultivate)

Although the artist has shown frequently in Seattle, she lives in Eastern Washington where this type of bucolic scene surrounds her.  She is interested in objectifying the landscape, showing us that we are proprietary in our approach to nature.  What we feel is limitless and expansive, we want to own; what we love, we want to tame; where we find beauty, we try to ascribe purpose.  I use the landscape as a visual metaphor for our desire to contain what cannot be contained.
