17-Year Old Eyes

This self-portrait depicts my life at age 17, when I lived near the Grand Canyon. My medium is discarded traffic signs and test panels used by the sign company for their paint guns and stencils. I cut the signs and panels and rearrange then into these self-portraits. The original message – NO PARKING OR DETOUR – is transformed into one entirely new message. –Artist statement
