Artist Statement: Uptown has been home to so much of Seattle’s lively culture – I hope I have done it justice despite the necessary safety restrictions in place. It was eerie to capture the emptiness of a cultural landmark, the wary gaps between people, and masked faces. These photographs are not only a reminder of the damage COVID-19 did to our communities, but also of the importance of putting the well-being of your community over your individual wants.
