Artist's Statement: This sculpture strives to capture the many different types of energy that make Miller Community Center so vibrant— from the Solar Microgrid installed on the roof to the many activities that take place within the building itself. The rainbow paint scheme is both a reference to the spectrum present in sunlight and a celebration of Miller Community Center longstanding relationship with Seattle’s LGBQT community. The design brings together a variety of motifs representing diverse activities and patrons, just as the Miller Community Center brings so many different people together in real life. A design key available from the front desk explains the meaning behind each motif in more detail.

Like the Solar Microgrid on the roof, this sculpture is intended to make use of solar energy. The sculpture will look very different depending on the weather, the time of day, and your viewing position. Every visit should offer a new viewing experience.

Location: Located in the Miller Community Center, 330 19th Avenue East, Seattle WA 98112
