The goose has long been an animal associated with good luck. It is also familiar from the fairy tales we were read as children ( Mother Goose, Grimm's Tales, etc.). Here, the goose is hardly beneficent -- it seems to be attacking the photographer. He was probably looking around in places he shouldn't have. And yes, Christopher is the son of New York artist Robert Rauschenberg.
