Description: The location is one of the most scenic in the city, with a sweeping view of downtown Seattle and Mount Rainier, and both the park and the sculpture are much-photographed.  Changing Form was originally intended to be a kinetic sculpture, with the top barrel on bearings and capable of being moved by hand through a full 360-degree range, so that visitors could adjust the configuration of the sculpture.  Later, the artist, with consent of the Department of Parks and Recreation, welded the upper section into place to prevent possible injury to the public and damage to the sculpture, and to fix the sculpture into the configuration she preferred.

Artist Statement: The park was there for years, but it was an undeveloped strip with some rhododendrons. I loved this piece and I designed it with a park in mind.  It’s an ideal space.
