The source of the image is lost.  However from the title and what little we can see, the place appears to be back stage. There is a theatrical quality to both the decorations and the woman. The mystery of what she is doing and why is as curious as her surroundings. Without more information, the viewer is left to interpret. Perhaps that is why so many people who have considered this work for their offices have ultimately decided against it, suspecting that something illicit is being depicted.
