Detour

The artist has frequently visited a small Portugal village where the light has a rich and tangible presence and the place offers a sense of sanctuary for the spirit.  Detour is from a suite of prints, Portuguese Road Signs, that document the traditional and unique road signs of Portugal.  Now that Portugal is part of the European Community, traditional road signs are being replaced by international symbols.
