Winter Wheat

The artist is interested in exploring the potentially frightening yet humorous aspects of childhood.  Decorative flowers, patterns, glitter, stains and goo are layered over an otherwise masculine color field painting.  She attempts to challenge the boundaries between meaning and non-meaning.  Illustrations from Winnie the Pooh, Pinocchio and a myriad of classical nursery rhymes provide the artist with boundless sources of characters from which to draw.
