Duwamish River Rabbit on Logs

This collage was begun during the Duwamish River Artist Residency Group in late summer of 2019. 14 of us spent a week on the Duwamish River looking, listening, collecting, drawing, and painting together. That week was life changing. The intimacy and expertise within the group, and the history and environmental immensity of the river experience, changed my perception of “Place” and my position in it. I finished this collage in the month following and it represents a leap in my understanding of my artistic motivations. I can see that my “poetic cartoons” are becoming a less cartoon and a more poetic. –Artist statement
