Abstractions like this are not about anything other than the attempt of the artist to arrange the visual elements so the visual weights of the shapes and their colors are perceived by the viewer to be in balance. It is visual problem solving...almost visual engineering. Oddly, viewers often respond to this visual problem solving with words like soothing or violent. It's curious how colors and shapes, even when they are not used to depict the world we know, can still affect us emotionally.
