Combining what looks to be a warrior's shield with an altarpiece for a religion that hasn't been invented yet, Calderon's mysterious object is full of associations while remaining simple in its presentation. Mark Calderon is one of Seattle's most inventive and serious artists.  He has experimented with many materials, including bronze, lead, wood and pyrography.
