Factory Outlet Stores by the River

My artwork is about Northwest light and the landscape. Signs on the Freeway is a view of a factory outlet mall located by a river and a freeway. I painted on location the black ink image and using my sketchbook notes regarding color and light, I completed the painting with gouache paint in my studio. In this painting, I like the bright artificial colors of the signs and building in contrast to the earthy Northwest colors in nature. –Artist statement
