Flashpainting is an experimental form of night landscape photography. The image is not digitally altered; all the effects are created in camera with each photo a straight print from the original image. The artists shoot at night, in complete darkness. With the shutter open, they carefully paint each element with light using a variety of portable light sources from tiny fiber optics to large searchlights. Colored filters enhance these light sources.
