Untitled Black & White Weaving

Beginning in the seventies, fabric art flourished in the craft-friendly Northwest. In works like this there was an attempt to blend traditional techniques, particularly the so-called woman's crafts of sewing and weaving, with the formal concerns of contemporary abstract art.  This weaving is as much about abstract design as it is about the traditional craft of weaving.
