Starting from the center, the cross-stitch embroidery design shows the round symbol of Sun. On the four sides, in blue wool yarn, is the Austras tree. Each morning the sun leaps from the tree of light. The edging shows a zigzag symbol of Mara, protector of cattle and water.
The artist has participated in the Seattle Latvian embroidery group for 25 years and has exhibited throughout the Puget Sound.
