In addition to physical adornment, I am interested in our occasional need to costume and mask ourselves, in order to become someone else, if only momentarily. The large-scale heads in this print play off this sense of masking. Some are self-portraits. Featuring an aerial map-like view of Puget Sound, each Vestal Virgin speaks a phrase, culled from local histories and guidebooks that describe unique attributes of Puget Sound. –Artist statement
