This painting depicts the day to day struggle immigrant families are going through. It narrates and tries to capture the culture shock and constant journey to find an identity once the subjects have left home. I try to capture the losing of one's identity and the struggle to re-assimilate in the new world which in turn creates ‘invisibleness.” As an immigrant I understand the pressure families go through and the effects that these two poles have on the relationship between families and the greater communities they live in. –Artist statement
