I make work about walking landscapes and movement through place. The direct action of walking can be a means in which the landscape’s “text” is actively written, with the moving body as a line, and the landscape as composition. Walking the Warzone of an American City is a project comprised of multiple walks through Seattle. Walks occurred between July 2016 and February 2017. This drawing represents the texts walked through the urban street grids. Ordinary actions of going for walks, are dangerous actions. We condone too much injustice, too much needless death, in the name of “keeping the peace.” –Artist statement
