An American artist with both Scottish and Palestinian heritage, Faur deals with the intersection of cultures in a way that focuses on cultural and visual aspects rather than the overtly political. He employs representational tension to explore the volatile and mercurial state of his ancestral background in the Middle East. Though these photographs are titled ‘Memorials,’ they are not designed for particular people, places or events, but are filled with particular forms of information intended to reflect a kind of loss that he has no other way to honor. –Artist statement
