Summer Light Sparkle

This piece is a collaborative improvisation by the artists, working side-by-side. It implies figures developed with broad strokes, depicting planes that are emphasized by a palette of bright color. We began our collaborative style in the early 1980s. We would get together regularly for friendly critiques of one another's individual work. One day, frustrated by the inability of speech to convey visual ideas, one of the two of us handed the brush to the other and said, “show me.” After that, we would often step into each other's work. –Artist statement
