Lovers III

This image is related to a series of small paintings Roger Shimomura made in 2013. They deal directly with emotion. Using juxtapositions of races and genders, some realistic, some typological, but all of them representing the idea of “love” in modern America. Whom you love can be another reason for discrimination in our society. –Artist statement
