“. . . one of England’s most important twentieth-century sculptors. Epstein’s work ranged from cubist designs to expressionist portraits of famous and common people. This work is an example of the latter, his model was a London scrubwoman named Pola Givenchy. She died the year after this portrait was sculpted. -Resurrection was given to the city by Seattle art patrons Norman and Amelia Davis for the Seattle World’s Fair of 1962.” - From Art in Seattle’s Public Places, An Illustrated Guide by James M.
