Rug making was a tradition in Kay Buckner's family. This rug is the first in a series taken from a collection of worn jackets, with some hues snipped from old garments and other shades dyed in small amounts to provide desired gradations. The imagery and color reflect a Pacific Northwest autumn, red tailed hawks and pulp mills. Surface texture is the result of mingling tweeds, gabardines, and flannels.
