Glove and Doghead

Gaylen Hansen is one of the most well known and colorful artists in the Northwest. He articulates his surroundings with humor and irony. The things that I relate to in the rural palouse of Washington enter the world of my canvas: archaic dogs, unusual juxtapositions, leaping fish, tulips, cowboys on horseback, clear mountain streams, and truth artfully stretched this painting is based on my appreciation of the common things around me. I like to arrange these things; Ducks, Dogs and gloves in a formal composition but paint them in a humorous way. –Artist statement
