Velvet Glove in Wait

A painting is like a skin to me - it separates, hides, holds a world, a being - a physical field creates a vibration, and icon, effigy appear in the act of painting, with or without the paint.  I respond to the ancient, the transformative, chemical, animal, essential.  I paint so that I might get closer to that, and to become more aware of the transient nature of experience - as a creature of the earth within it’s huge silence.  –Artist statement
