Eye of the Sole

This image mixes what is possibly the oldest art form, painting the face and body, with a distinctly 20th century medium- color photography. Kuniyuki further updates the vision by using florescent paints and black lights. Her images become like primal hallucinations that could never have been expressed until our own time. The effect is like glimpsing some unknown ancient ceremony while at the same time realizing that it could only be happening now.
