What at first glance seems to be an angular pastel abstraction is really a color photograph of airplanes.  A number of contemporary photographers use their medium to go against the stereotypical notion that photography is a mechanical process best used for the literal recording of reality. Often, as in this case, reality is changed to become a formal design made up of shapes and colors.
