When Cris Bruch first moved to Seattle he set up small urban treks for himself to investigate his new neighborhood where his studio was situated. He walked out each day with large paper and pencils in hand and literally traced the physical characteristics of his neighborhood with rubbings. Each day he would rub for one hour, always starting at the point where he ended the day before. The resulting drawings are abstract close-ups of the artist's urban environment. They draw attention to a landscape we seldom notice when we walk.
