Painting is a process of discovery for me. A way to travel. Some days are terrible, with no sense of progress. Other days are extraordinary and a painting arrives like a gift. Travel is important to my work. A Grant from the Boston Museum School allowed me to travel for nine months in Europe, England, and Morocco. The non-European aspects of North African culture have stayed with me as vivid visual experiences. They still motivate my work. –Artist statement
