As one of the predominant artists working with handmade paper in the Northwest, Margaret Sahlstrand focused upon the floor of the forest as her mode of expression.  Also using pieces of old clothing as her molds, the artist literally poured her paper pulp onto a succession of relief forms, thereby replicating these forms.  Notice the imprint of a fern as well as the stitching of a pocket.
