It is important to ‘decode’ the allegorical pseudonyms of the nuclear world; the disparity between what a test or weapon does, and what it is called. The nuclear world is actually a classical allegory of two levels upon which it operates. The top level consists of the public persona such as the Titan, the Trinity and Bikini Tests. The second level is the actual level – too difficult for the layman to comprehend it must be coded in colorful phrases. This work addresses the gap between the two levels of nuclear doublespeak. –Artist statement
