Carbon Hill

Actual locations are secondary in my utopia, the importance of an optimistic landscape and the sense of place that it offers is what interests me.  I feel that these paintings give a clue to the 'beautiful city' and its operating systems and yet leave enough unanswered questions for the viewer to determine the perspective and location.  In the active abstractions the characteristics and imagery of the busy city are visible, and in the simplifications of vast spaces, the rural landscape is suggested. –Artist statement
