The main direction of my current studio work is an investigation of space and the distortion of said space. I work with many common art materials, paper, graphite and ink; which I combine with industrial materials such as vinyl adhesive films and reflective tapes. The resulting collages are minimal and graphic. Many reference architecture and landscape as they seemingly collide to compete for attention. The view raises many difficult questions. Most importantly, when speaking of architecture, the view is defined by what you see when you look away from the building. –Artist statement

Floating to the surface of Robert Yoder's abstract assemblages are bits and pieces of the street signs, shopping sacks and grocery bags he uses to create them. Yoder infuses traditionally two-dimensional materials with depth and texture by layering several different signs or bags within each piece. The artist takes rough, roadside materials and turns them into graceful, grid like minimalist compositions that resemble roadmaps or an urban planner's drawings, or street guides. Yoder is the quintessential abstractionist distilling from his found inspirations and transforming them into fully realized objects that are compositions focusing on color and form and the relationships therein.
