Description: The alders rest on an angled platform of steel mesh, anchored by root-like extensions. The viewer looks up into the trees through the open mesh as though looking up into the forest from under the surface of the water.
Artist Statement: Forming a shelter-like opening suggestive of a hiding place or a deep forest pathway the piece represents the police perspective of the building as their sanctuary and private refuge, as well as a shelter for citizens seeking aid.
