I am intrigued by the long shot, the notion that human aspirations that seem impossible could actually come to pass, in spite of their improbability. Recent work has been particularly influenced by the longing and desire for transcendence in contemporary life. I allude to these ideas in pigment prints constructed from multiple images into alternative realities. High Hopes contains a paper plane folded by the artist and pictured here flying over Northwestern United States and Canada. It appears to have made it very high into the sky, in full throttle can-do mode. The image was created for this original editioned pigment print on paper. The land image was improved by the artist from a satellite image courtesy of MODIS Rapid Response Project at NASA/GSFC (Goddard Space Flight Center.) –Artist statement
