I find myself in the position of many other artists; that of having a job that doesn't necessarily relate to my art practice. For eight hours a day I interact with what are generally perceived s mundane office supplies. This series focused upon these small useful objects, their banality, utility and what happens when they are removed from their context. Once taken out of their normal function and setting; the objects take on entirely new significance. By isolating and focusing on these items, they were given an importance that was not based on their functionality. What became of much more consequence was what the object represented to me: a push pin becomes a desire to keep things in place, an unlit match stick, a vision of potentiality, a deconstructed paper clip, a reflection on what the nature and attributes of what the object is. –Artist statement
