As a native of Seattle, the artist began in 1998 to paint the container cranes that flank Seattle's waterfront. This painting is from a series which, according to the artist features mass accumulations of containers and cranes stretching into infinity. Stylistically, the paintings reduce the situation of the container terminal to a complex network of overlapping planes and construction lines in dramatic perspective. Conceptually, the paintings deal with issues of accumulation, industry, time and ambiguity.
