Their Error Lay of Course in Looking for an Object

Mark Calderon is one of Seattle's most inventive and serious artists.  Since creating this piece in 1981, he has experimented with bronze, lead, wood and pyrographs, made by fabricating a branding iron out of metal into the desired shape, heating it and then burning the image into paper.  Often times I combine various ideas or images into deceptively simple works that are mysterious yet have an undefined familiarity. –Artist statement
