This piece was inspired by the artist’s involvement in a downtown Seattle bank robbery. As a bystander, she was unaware at first that a robbery had even occurred until she noticed the bank closed with her remaining inside. The lack of drama was disappointing, so McGrath dreamt up a robber of “sophistication” (jet-setter lifting the crown jewels, an antique gun collector, fine cigars, and fancy lighters). These objects became the subject matter of this piece.
