My work is nonfiction. The transient lighting conditions in this part of the world are part of the aesthetic in my photographs. Figures and landscapes are an endless source of material. At times these props fall into a set of photographs resembling an essay.
This was a luck shot. I had been loading film holders at the end of the day when a thunderstorm blew over. The land was glowing with what can be described as a root beer float color . . .as it got darker, everything took on a red glow that lasted for only a few seconds . . . Ryder, Turner, Giorgione and Emily Carr were all standing next to me. The artist was located near the junction of the Snake and Salmon Rivers in Idaho.
