Description: The sculptural images include a four-wheeled cart vehicle, a cow, and a basket filled with various fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts.  The produce represents the productive result of farming.  Each wheel of the cart is of a different style found in the world farming community.  The four examples of wheels are: a Middle Eastern plank construction, a classic American wagon wheel, a Stone Age wheel, and a modern tractor tire and wheel.

The cow stands heroically on the cart as a proud and sentient individual, while at the same time it is not separated from the “farming machine” it must ride.  The cow also becomes a “bearer of good things,” providing us with a basket of substance.  The artwork discusses the relationship between humans, farm animals, and the food produced on farms.

Location: Woodland Park Zoo, 601 North 59th Street, Seattle WA 98103
