Rude Graves II

I did not paint these images to represent a sinister or evil attitude. The sitter I have chosen, Rude (pronounced “Rudy”) Graves, is a close friend.  I have chosen the color relationships to best depict the drama and the physical nature of light across the landscape of the human face.  I see the darkness and solitude as a representation of deep stillness and inner contemplation. –Artist statement
