My paintings are meditations on fertility and decay, growth and decomposition, and the cycles of life and death in nature…I am interested in exploring early painting materials, techniques, and references in a contemporary context.  Meticulously rendered plant life, birds, and moths are subjected to scab-like markings, smudges, drips, and viscous glazes.  The resulting image is intended as a complex layering of opposing forces, idealized and scarred, beautiful and unsettling. –Artist statement
