Rosa Mundi

My aim is to discover, during the process of painting, the requirements of a particular image.  Paint is put down in layers.  As each layer moves into and suggests the next, the image slowly grows.  My paintings result from an accumulation of images, from alternate possibilities considered and discarded.  Each canvas holds the remains of these possibilities beneath its surface.  When the painting is finished, all that's left to know is what is on the surface. –Artist statement
